We all know the positive benefits of water on skin and one’s general health. Still, it is quite surprising to realize that simple water may be all you need to cure what for some people is a perennial and seemingly complicated problem: acne.
A United Kingdom (UK) based company; Nutraceuticals Works with Water launched a new product called Beauty, spring water with ingredients clinically proven to treat acne.
The spring water contains effective ingredients like Praventin and Lactoferrin. Praventin is a bioactive protein rich in Lactoferrin.
Various researches have shown that Praventin and Lactoferrin have antimicrobial effects and reduce the growth of the bacteria responsible for many skin problems. It also helps prevent the formation of blemishes and spots.
The founder of Works With Water, Jules Birch said: “Praventin has been shown to b
highly effective in improving the complexion from the inside out and works in two ways.
“Firstly it inhibits the development of the propionibacterium that is present on most people’s skin, and responsible for many skin impurities and acnes, lessening the number of new spots forming.
“Secondly, its anti-inflammatory properties mean that the size of spots is reduced and blemishes heal quicker resulting in a smoother complexion.
“By adding it to a spring water formulation we have created a product that helps hydrate and heal skin from the inside.”
Studies involving teenage consumers proved the benefits of dietary supplementation with praventin. Subjects took 200mg of Praventin each day. Beauty contains 100mg, half of the recommended daily amount and it resulted to a a median decrease of complexion blemishes by 71 percent after one month and 95 percent after two months.
Another good ingredient of Beauty is 200:1 high extract Aloe Vera which also has antimicrobial and nourishing properties.
Food & Ingredients Business Manager at DKSH Great Britain, Kavan Ranasinghe, said: “Bioactive peptides are a new area of research within both the food and cosmetics industries and the functionality of Praventin combines these two areas perfectly. We strongly believe that this will be the year that cosmaceutical products finally come of age.”
